MapleWalk Garden

MapleWalk is the private garden of Lib Jones and Tom Nunnenkamp in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, NC. While the garden derives its name from the over 90 different varieties of Japanese maples, MapleWalk is also known for its collection of dogwoods, redbuds, conifers, camellias, and colorful herbaceous perennials. My love affair with Calanthe Orchids began with a gift from Dr. Larry Mellichamp who shared some from his garden. These Japanese evergreen woodland orchids are topped with a bloom stalk in mid April.

I have several different Calanthe Orchids with my newest being Calanthe reflexa which I purchased from Plant Delights Nursery. Calanthe reflexa differs from other hardy calanthes in that it blooms in summer.
